Pride And Prejudice :: essays research papers

Pride and Prejudice is an anecdote around two wedded couples who don't regard one another. Mrs. Bennet business is to get her five little girl's to wed the most extravagant man in England. She is happy to take on any snags that hold her up. Mr. Bennet is a frank and harsh individual. On the off chance that there is anything he detests about mrs. Bennet or about what she is doing, he let her know. He love to censure his better half. "I see no event for that. You and the young ladies may go, or you may send them without anyone else, which maybe will be still better, for as you are as attractive as any of them, Mr. Bingley may like you the best of the party." I picked this statement since it shows how Mr. Bennet reprimand his better half. Mr bennet messes with Miss Bennet not like a spouse should. "My dear Mr. Bennet," said his woman to him one day, "have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?" Mr.Bennet answered that he had not, which he has. Mrs. Bennet is a covetous and pompous lady. Her business is to get all her little girl to wed the most extravagant man in England, and she is eager to take on any obstancles that hold her up. "Oh! Single, my dear, no doubt! A man of huge fortune; four or 5,000 every year. What a fine thing for our girls!". This statement shows how she puts stock in wedding for cash rather than adoration. The percipient lady would prefer her girl's to bite the dust than not wedding. Cited: Had she found Jane in any clear peril, Mrs. Bennet would have been truly hopeless; however being fulfilled on observing her that her sickness was not disturbing she had no desire of her recouping promptly, most likely expel her from Netherfield. I picked this quot on the grounds that it shows she is a terrible mother, in light of the fact that a mother should think about her girl. The lady is killjoy until all her little girl's is hitched. Mr. Bennet and his significant other don't converse with one another with deference. Mr. Bennet favor Elizabeth and Mrs. Bennet likes Jane and Lizzy the most. "Lizzy is anything but somewhat superior to the others; and I am certain she isn't half attractive as Janes, nor half so amiable as Lydia". In any case, you are continually giving her the inclination.

7 Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas

7 Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas 7  Cheap Halloween Costume Ideas 7  Cheap Halloween Costume IdeasWhy break the bank for a Halloween costume you’ll wear a grand total of once?Hello BOILS and GHOULS! As the leaves on the trees begin to turn to BOOtiful SHADES of yellow and DEAD, it’s GRIME to start thinking about what costume you’re going to SCARE for Halloween! You want to have a spooky great look, but you also don’t want to wipe out your entire GRAVE-ings account. That’s why we’re FEAR with some suggestions for CREEPER Halloween costumes.1. With ItThis year’s biggest horror movie is the remake of Stephen King’s It. Or, at least, that’s what we’ve been told. We’re too scared to actually see it. (But we hear good things!)A full Pennywise the clown costume might be a little expensive, but there are cheap alternatives! Just get a friend to do the face makeup, and then cut a rectangular hole in a sheet of cardboard.Color it to look like a storm drain, staple a string that you can tie around your head, and you can recreate  (spooky s poilers)  this iconic movie moment   without getting a full body costume together. Bonus points for having a little paper boat.2. Going battyWhat animal is most associated with Halloween? That’s right: any animal with a skeleton because skeletons are spooky. But bats are a close second. And the Evil Mad Scientist  site has brilliant instructions for an affordable bat costume.Just cut up one of those cheap umbrellas as the instructions describe and attach it under your arms in a plain black outfit. Or attach it to fancy clothes and wear some cheap fangs if you want to be an aristocratic vampire.3. [Cheap TV reference]Cheap TV references can make for cheap costumes. And they don’t have to be current! In fact, it’s almost better if they’re older, because then you can make a new friend every time someone recognizes your costume. Do you like The Office? You could make yourself a version of Jim’s three-hole punch costume for under a buck. For a bit of a throwback, Wilson from Hom e Improvement just takes a fishing hat and a section of fence you can make out of popsicle sticks or cardboard. Like 30 Rock but hate putting effort into costumes even more than Jenna hates things that aren’t about her? Well just cut a little “TGS” out of paper, tape it to a grey sweatshirt, put on some glasses, and you’re Liz Lemon at work! If you’re a couple who likes Parks and Recreation, consider dressing up like Agent Burt Macklin and Janet Snakehole. Whatever TV show you love, there’s probably a super cheap costume you can make to honor it.4. Skeleton of funAs mentioned above, the spookiest animal of all is the skeleton. And Martha Stewart has a video showing you how to make a very cheap version of one. All you’ll need is a white shirt and a slightly bigger black shirt that you’re willing to cut slits into to act as the ribs. You can get some face paint too, but we’ll leave that up to you.5. Berry goodWhat’s the spookiest fruit? Dragonfruit, obviously, but we haven’t seen any tips to make a costume for that. So instead, you could try dressing up like a strawberry with this simple costume. The site, Studio DIY, also has a pineapple version, so you and a friend can go as a preassembled edible arrangement.6. Brands brands brandsBrand mascots are like TV characters, except they’re much more explicit about trying to sell you things. Carbon Costume, a site for DIY costumes, has an easy Brawny Man attire as well as a suggestion for a Vince, the Shamwow Guy get-up.  Something like the Hamburglar or the Sun-Maid Raisin girl also makes for an easy project. Maybe you can even get one of those companies to sponsor it! Or at least send you free stuff after you tweet a photo of yourself.7. DIY notNatasha Rachel Smith, financial expert at TopCashback  offered her own DIY recommendation:“If you are crafty, consider making your costume! Having DIY skills is beneficial to creating a fun and frugal costume, and DIY costumes are usually the most m emorable! From a gumball machine to your favorite Nickelodeon characters, the possibilities are endless when you are crafty and creative.”She also had tips for the less creative among us:“If you aren’t crafty and want to buy a costume from a store, make sure to shop for the best deals. Try waiting until the last minute to purchase your costume, to receive a bigger discount. Buying your costume the day before Halloween (or the day after and save it for next year) can save you at least 50  percent off the original price because retailers want to get rid of their remaining inventory.”Members of the TopCashBack team even shared some of their own DIY costume creations with us:“The Spice Girls, the cheapest costume ever! We purchased poster boards and drew spice names on them!“Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from SpongeBob. I repurposed clothes I already owned and purchased dish gloves, rain boots, and the hat. I think I spent $30 total. My friend had to purchase a couple additio nal items such as green leggings, slippers and craft supplies to make the belt and bra, but she only spent $30 as well.“Gumball machine. I was two versions of this and both were very cheap. I repurposed the same red skirt for both. I hot glued pompom balls to the top, and the other we inflated dollar store balloons and shoved them into a trash bag. The only downsides are it took a couple of hours to glue everything on and inflate the balloons.”At the end of the day, as long as you have some sort of costume prepared, you’ll be better off than the person who forgot to think of one until the morning of.Enjoy, stay safe, and have yourself a SCARY holiday!Do you have a great idea for an affordable costume? Let us know by entering The OppLoans #Halloween Budget Sweepstakes on  Facebook and  Twitter and you could win $100!  ContributorsNatasha Rachel Smith  is a personal finance expert at  TopCashBack. Outlines for Every Type of Writing Composition

An outline is a plan for or a summary of a writing project or speech. Outlines are usually in the form of a list divided into headings and subheadings that distinguish main points from supporting points. Most word processors contain an outlining feature that allows writers to format outlines automatically. An outline may be either informal or formal. Informal Outlines The working outline (or scratch outline or informal outline) is a private affair — fluid, subject to constant revision, made without attention to form, and destined for the wastebasket. But enough working outlines have been retrieved from wastebaskets that something can be said about them...A working outline usually begins with a few phrases and some descriptive details or examples. From them grow fragmentary statements, tentative generalizations, hypotheses. One or two of these take on prominence, shaping into the main ideas that seem worth developing. New examples bring to mind new ideas, and these find a place in the list of phrases, canceling out some of the original ones. The writer keeps adding and subtracting, juggling and shifting, until he has his key points in an order that makes sense to him. He scribbles a sentence, works in a transition, adds examples...By then, if he has kept expanding and correcting it, his outline comes close to being a rough summary of the ess ay itself. Wilma R. Ebbitt and David R. Ebbitt Using the Outline as a Draft Outlining might not be very useful if writers are required to produce a rigid plan before actually writing. But when an outline is viewed as a kind of draft, subject to change, evolving as the actual writing takes place, then it can be a powerful tool for writing. Architects often produce multiple sketches of plans, trying out different approaches to a building, and they adapt their plans as a building goes up, sometimes substantially (it is fortunately much easier for writers to start over or make basic changes).   Steven Lynn The Post-Draft You might prefer...to construct an outline after, rather than before, writing a rough draft. This lets you create a draft without restricting the free flow of ideas and helps you rewrite by determining where you need to fill in, cut out, or reorganize. You may discover where your line of reasoning is not logical; you may also reconsider whether you should arrange your reasons from the most important to the least or vice versa in order to create a more persuasive effect. Ultimately, outlining after the first draft can prove useful in producing subsequent drafts and a polished final effort. Gary Goshgarian Topic Sentence Outlines Two types of outlines are most common: short topic outlines and lengthy sentence outlines. A topic outline consists of short phrases arranged to reflect your primary method of development. A topic outline is especially useful for short documents such as letters, e-mails, or memos...For a large writing project, create a topic outline first, and then use it as a basis for creating a sentence outline. A sentence outline summarizes each idea in a complete sentence that may become the topic sentence for a paragraph in the rough draft. If most of your notes can be shaped into topic sentences for paragraphs in the rough draft, you can be relatively sure that your document will be well organized. Gerald J. Alred and Charles T. Brusaw Formal Outlines Some teachers ask students to submit formal outlines with their papers. Here is a common format used in constructing a formal outline: I. (main topic) A. (subtopics of I)B. 1. (subtopics of B)2. a. (subtopics of 2)b. i. (subtopics of b)ii. Note that subtopics are indented so that all letters or numbers of the same kind appear directly under one another. Whether phrases (in a topic outline) or complete sentences (in a sentence outline) are used, topics and subtopics should be parallel in form. Make sure that all items have at least two subtopics or none at all. Example of Vertical Outline To outline your material vertically, write your thesis at the head of the page and then use headings and indented subheadings: Thesis: Though many things make me want to score goals, I love scoring most of all because it momentarily gives me a sense of power. I. Common reasons for wanting to score goals A. Help teamB. Gain gloryC. Hear cheers of crowd II. My reasons for wanting to score goals A. Feel relaxed 1. Know Im going to score a goal2. Move smoothly, not awkwardly3. Get relief from pressure to do well B. See world in freeze-frame 1. See puck going into goal2. See other players and crowd C. Feel momentary sense of power 1. Do better than goalie2. Take ultimate mind trip3. Conquer anxiety4. Return to Earth after a moment Besides listing points in order of rising importance, this outline groups them under headings that show their relation to each other and to the thesis. James A.W. Rates of Reaction Lab Investigation Free Essays

Chemestry Lab Rates of Reaction (Picture from: http://sciencespot. net/Pages/kdzchem. html) The rate of reaction is how fast or slow a reaction is completed. We will write a custom essay sample on Rates of Reaction Lab Investigation or any similar topic only for you Order Now This is important for factories and chemists all over the world. What happenes during a reaction is atoms or molecules that collide and form new molecules. You can affect this rate of reaction with: temperature of reactants or suroundings, surface area of reactants, if there is a catalyst present, but in theis lab the concentration was changed as the IV. The reaction rate is masured in change/time, in this case it was: volume of gass produced/minutes. Gas was measured in ml/minute, and this was the DV. Aim of lab was: To find the change in rate if reaction, depending on the concentration of hydrocloric acid. Hypothesis: If the concentration of hydrocloric acid is increased, the rate of reaction will increase and the volume of gass will increase. The reasoning behind the hypothesis is that when there are more molecules in the solution the reactants collide more often, so more product is made in a shorter periode of time. The equation was: Mg + 2HCl MgCl2 + H2 Similar article: Measuring Reaction Rate Using Volume of Gas Produced Independent variable| Dependent variable| Controled variables| Value| How to control the CV| Concentration of acid| Rate of reaction| Vol of acid| 20 ml| Measure using a 50ml Measuring cylinder| 2 moles pr. The amount of succesfull collisions increased, because of increased number of atoms in the product, so when the concentration was increased it rate of reactio n increases. There are more collisions because of more atomes, and therefor more succesfull once. Evaluation: Random errors: * Therometer used to measure temperature * Inaccuracy of +/- 1 C * Balance weight used to measure Mg ribbon * Inaccuracy of +/- 0. 01 g * Measuring cylinders used to measure volume of acid and volume of gas * Inaccuracy of +/- 0. 5 ml * Ruler used to measure Mg ribbon * Inaccuracy of +/- 0. 1 cm Ways to prevent random errors and improve the method: – Compleet the experiment more times Systematic errors: – As you see in the graph, the fourth result was anomalus. During the 3 minutes the magnesium ribbon was â€Å"used up† in a very short period of time. The rate was so fast in the 2 moles per liter that it was over in under a minutte, but in the other concentration types it tok longer time for the reaction to compleet. Therefor we have to look away from the highest concentrations, and focus on the three lowest. This was a big weakness in the lab. – When pouring the HCl acid into the side armed test tube, some of the reaction had been compleeted before we had time to put the rubber stopper on every time. The temperature was only monitored, not controlled. Ways to reduce systematic errors and improve the lab: * Have a shorter reaction time: shorten the time form 3 min to around 1 minutte. * Use a fisle-funnle to prevent gas leaking out before the stopper is placed on the testtube. * Do the experiment in a controlled environment, like in a water bath. Sugestions to possible further investigations into this topic: You can change th e IV, to one of the other factors that affect rate of reaction. Eg. Take the same concentration of HCl acid and change the temperature, or the precence of catalyst. How to cite Rates of Reaction Lab Investigation, Essay examples

What is Macro and Micro Environment Essay Example

What is Macro and Micro Environment? Paper Macro and Micro environment: How external factor can influence marketing decisions. BY jxdZ143757 Macro and Micro environment: How external factor can influence marketing decisions. Introduction While the managers making efforts to take advantages of their competitors on the on the inside business structure such as to cut the cost down by simplifying the staff group, the macro and micro factors are escaping detection. Unlike internal environment, the macro and micro environments of a business are not changed by the behavior Of its own whilst it is hard for most firms to be ready for reaction to every significant transformation outside. For example, the influence of regime change due to a election or war is hard to anticipate but it is part of marketers’ responsibility. This essay will list and discuss briefly the macro and micro environmental factors and how they influence marketing decisions. Macro environment Social and Culture factors Society is the fundamental element of macro environment. It is the costumers who are valuing products and services. However, the population, lifestyle and tradition are quiet different between regions. And the value and lifestyle of one same region is changing faster along with the time. Firms today have to adapt their products and promotion methods frequently to these changes. For example, Nikkei act more like a fashion brand in East Asia than a sport equipments manufacturer in Europe. Technology Similar to economic factors, technological renew is the hardest to predict. As knowledge and information of human beings is exploding, firms may face different market position and costumer interests every year or even shorter time. The raising smartened is taking the market share of ‘traditional’ personal computer. Modern manufacturers are easier to be beaten by substitute technology or products. International Economy The rotation Of economy is a eternal problem for business all over the world. As the globalization of international economy, the world is moving more and more like a combination. At the same time, the industry chain let the upstream and downstream manufacturers influence each other. Regions and firms form a highly interconnected net, every economic change is globalizes. Marketers have to try to detect the opportunities and threats from the weaving net like the capricious oil price. Political and legal factors Laws are different between countries. An international organization must be used to this issue. Moreover, policy is another active element. Due to election, inside revolution or war, the government and policy could be sharply changed. Firms should predict and react well, sometimes they have to bet. Micro environment While firms can only react to macro environmental changes, they can communicate with micro environment and control it. Customer Business is all about competing for customers. The move Of customers’ interest will lead to the renew of products. The marketers must be clear about what are their interest group and aim market, anticipate the moving value of products, hold customers and attract more. Supplier Suppliers provide resources need by the company. When there is alternative options, marketers could choose from them to cut cost or even instigate a price war among them. But when there is only one supplier for specific material, firms may have to accept high price. But markers could consider about to acquire it by themselves. Competitors Markers should thinking about two questions: Is this industry easy to enter? And what kind of close substitution could be established in the future? Most companies will face the threats of competitors all along. Some have not recognized their opponents well when they are already beaten. Conclusion The core of marketers’ work upon macro and micro environment of business is prediction and set reaction strategies. As firms have less control over these environmental changes generally, the opportunities and threats in the future require competitive abilities of reorganization, communication, analysis and anticipation from marketers who are devoting themselves to the survive and growth oftener companies.

The poem To My Mother is written in a specific from, which helps convey the message and the feelings of the mother across to the readers. This poem is a sonnet; it consists of fourteen lines which are pleasingly divided into an octave and a sestet, more like a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet. The octave describes to us the seismic laughter and how the mother was before all the sorrow taking control of her. It tells us that she was a comical yet caring; she was more of a role model to the other but she was following a brass band which could be referring to her beliefs. The sestet also talks about the mother but it is after all the sorrow fills her heart and mind, she leans on the mahogany table people lean on object when they are tired upset. In this case the mother is both upset and tired of being upset. The last two lines in the sestet describe how the behaviour of the mother has affected the son, the only strength, which the son can provide for his mother to break the wall of sadness is love and faith. The octave has a rhyme scheme of abcd abcd, the sestet has a rhyme scheme of efg efg, and each line follows an iambic metre. The iambic metre gives us a rhythm to read the poem, which also relates to the message and the mothers feelings. Normally when we feel sad, everything we do tends to be slow and at a steady pace, the iambic metre provides that steadiness in the reading. The metre also relates to the message, helping someone overcome their sorrows, the metre states the slow and sorrowful mind of the mother and the rhyme at the end of each line suggests the love and faith the son has toward the mother. By using the form of a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet the poet effectively state the message. Through the uses of effective diction and simile, George Barker communicates the emotions of the mother. In the octave word choices like, most dear suggests that this poem might indeed be a letter to some one. When I think of words like most loved and most far, it seems to be a letter written to someone, who has died, and the boy is informing his mother status after their death. Huge suggests not only the mothers appearance but also the kindness; having a huge heart. Seismic implies her being jovial and light hearted; on the other hand in the sestet, where the tone changes, the thoughtful choice of words emphasise the sadness of the mother. She will not glance up at the bomber or condescend/ To drop her gin and scuttle to the cellar, this shows us that the boy has tried every means to get the mother out of her sorrows but what ever happens she would not recover or respond. People Lean when they are tired, stressed or miserable, this directly relates to the mothers state of mind. I think that the detailed description of the table; being mahogany is significant to how the mother feels as well. The word sounds like melancholy; meaning sad and depressed, which is what the mother is undergoing. The word cellar reminds me of prisons and bars; the mother is behind and trapped into the prison of mourning. Mourning into morning these words are homophones; sounding the same concludes the poem, and also states the message, by expressing that the mother sorrows will end when there is a new beginning. One very effective simile, is describing his mother like a mountain, this description not only describes the physical appearance but also the emotional capacity. A mountain is large and is a home to many living things, and the author to choose a mountain to describes is telling us that she is not only physically big but also is full of sorrow and sadness that, and the son needing the support of the mother, resembles the life in the mountains . George Barker uses metre, diction, rhyme, and simile; to illustrate the hidden message of his poem to his readers. The careful choice of word helps the readers successfully understand the emotions of the mother. The form of the poem helps the readers, feel the mothers sorrowfulness and the message from the poet; that we should help our loved one overcome pain and sorrow by loving them and having faith in them.

Trends in Supply Chain Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Trends in Supply Chain Management - Essay Example Thus, with reference to the current technological innovation, customers expect an efficient system that is both cost effective and reliable for commercial and private use. Operations within an individual market clog the morale of conducting business and restrict diversity therefore leading to reactive industries. With reference to international trade, various investors and product developers are able to develop and create products resembling the demands of the global customers (Green, Whitten, Inman, 2008). In addition, the use of specific strategies in some regions to manage costs, has transpired the trading of best practices leading, in some cases, to unified code of conduct within the logistics industry (Handfield, Straube, Pfohl, and Wieland, 2013). With reference to customer satisfaction, globalization creates interaction between various business blocs thus influencing the development, marketing, distribution, and sale of alternative products. The logistics industry comprises of a network of companies operating in both local and international sectors. These networks help to sustain the industry through the handling of segmented logistics’ service-tasks (Hanningan, & Mangan, 2001). The collapse of one segment in the network has the potential of interfering with global logistics operations. Following the trend of industries experiencing economic-crisis aftershock effects, research suggests that business blocs should loosen ties with volatile markets and implement strategies sustainable within a narrowed logistics’ environment (Florin, n.d). The Impact on the Automobile Industry in China after Joining the WTO Essay

The Impact on the Automobile Industry in China after Joining the WTO - Essay Example In the end, the entry of China into the WTO was considered a positive thing by most, although there are certainly those with contradictory opinions. The efficacious qualities that China gained by entry into the WTO; an aid to the economy, and the opening up of China’s markets for more international trade and investment (to name a few). The aim of this paper is to discuss more thoroughly on these points and more, and to offer a more in-depth and comprehensive point of view on the situation of the impact on the automobile industry in China after China’s accession into the WTO. â€Å"Since the beginning of economic reform and its opening to the outside world, China’s economy has been growing at a rate of nearly 10 percent annually and its external trade has expanded by more than 15 percent a year. In 1999 China’s trade volume reached $360.7 billion, ranking 9th in the world, with export volume reaching $195 billion. China has emerged to become an important player in world trading system.† (Zhai & Li, 2000). Negotiations over China’s accession into the WTO immediately provoked a debate between â€Å"†¦pessimists who believed that opening the economy would lead to a flood of imports and a de-nationalization of manufacturing industry, and those who believed that it would spur rationalization of state-owned enterprises, lock in domestic reforms, attract foreign investment, and open the way for trade expansion.† (Noble et al). The aim of this paper is to thoroughly realize and discuss these interests and more, in order to come to a clearer and more understanding point of view on the particular situation. In order to do this, the following questions must be addressed: The WTO (World Trade Organization) is an organization which consists of 123 signatory countries. Established on January 1, 1995, and based in Geneva, the WTO replaced the GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) as the most primary legal and institutional foundation among the

What is an Education :: Teching Learning Schooling Papers

What is an Education There appears to be some writing on the note ... What is an Education How was school today, what did you learn in school today, or what did you do in school today? Those seem to be questions every parent asks their child upon their return from a day at school. Most kids answer fine, ok, or nothing. Occasionally the child will be excited about something and actually tell their parent a story. Sometimes it will involve an incident at lunch where a friend threw their bologna sandwich across the table and it hit someone else. Then there are those days where the kid tells how in class they poured vinegar onto some kind of powder and it fizzed like a volcano would. Parents should take note of something like this. This could be a sign at a young age that a child has an interest in chemistry or possibly geology. This could be useful later on down the road when the child is trying to decide which classes to take in high school. With an early expressed interest in a subject area the child may perform better in that area and that would help m ake him/her desirable to colleges. That may all be part of a bigger problem though, getting to college. There is a lot of emphasis put on college. Students are taught that they will go no where without a college education. The focus in high school isnt completing high school, its getting ready for college. When my parents were growing up, one could make it in the world without a college education. Many were expected to head off to work once they received their high school diploma. Some went on to college to get a college degree. College degrees werent necessary, but they were highly looked upon. Nowadays a Bachelor of Arts degree or Bachelor of Science degree in some subject seems to be the requirement and it is the Masters degree that is highly looked upon. With more and more people returning to educational institutions to earn their Masters degree, many students are finding that graduate school is becoming necessary to be able to compete in the job market. The Masters degree is soon on its way to becoming the requirement and the PHD will soon be what is highly looked upon. Every one is so focused on getting a good education, but no one can agree what an education is.

Business Ethics Reflection Essay

A few years ago, my company decided to hire a man of Middle-Eastern decent to fill an open project engineering position. The gentlemen exemplified what the company wanted and needed in an employee. He had the educational requirements, work history, and years of experience in our manufacturing field. He shined during the interview process and stood head and shoulders above the other candidates. My company wasted no time making the man a reasonable offer and he gladly accepted soon afterwards. Within a few months after his arrival, the gentleman was tasked to lead a project to install an aseptic blend operation. The aseptic blend operation had some strict personal hygiene requirements. One critical requirement was no employee could don a beard when working in the blend area. Ironically, the gentleman sported a full lengthy beard in which he wore proudly as part of his Middle Eastern culture. Eventually, an unexpected ethical dilemma was on the rise. My company was caught between asking the man to shave his beard, assign another engineer to the project, or amend the requirement. After a few weeks of laboring over this problem, my company decided it would be in the best interest of all parties involved to allow the man to keep his beard and still lead the project. To do so, my company researched and was able to source large aseptic-acceptable beard nets. The gentleman was open to the idea of wearing the beard nets and the project was completed on time. The virtue, value, and moral conceptual issues in this ethical dilemma were also of interest. In terms of virtue, this man’s character was never in question. He was neither right nor wrong but was simply adhering to his cultural ways. In terms of values, the man’s personal values differed from those of the company’s. The man valued his culture and held it in high regard. As a result, he made a choice to sport a beard that signified his culture and ancestry. On the other hand, the company initially valued their policies. Yet, the company eventually decided to change them to honor the man’s values. Morally speaking, the virtues and the values of the company  and the man were not aligned thus causing an ethical dilemma. Neither of the two was right or wrong but simply had different beliefs. There were several ways in which external social pressures influenced business ethics in this situation. For example, when local Middle-Eastern delegates found about this ethical issue they became irate. They threatened to boycott the company’s products, protest outside of the company, and pursue a lawsuit. The local ACLU, The American Civil Liberties Union, spoke up against the company’s policies as well. Although they didn’t threaten any actions, their mere presence was enough to sway the company to change its policies. Finally, social pressure form the many Middle-Easterners within the community, county, and state weighed heavily on the company. These external social pressures along with internal pressure from employees were too much for the company to ignore. Again, as a result, the company amended its aseptic operation polices. If I was a company and was faced with the same dilemma today, I would have arrived at the same solution. Personally, in this situation, it would be better to amend a policy by finding suitable solutions, than it would be to stand firm. The company did the right thing by finding and purchasing acceptable beard nets rather than fight a lengthy battle in the judicial system and the court of public opinion. Therefore, I would have done the same thing today. If I was the gentleman in this situation, I would have done exactly what he originally did; stand firm and work towards to solution in which all parties are satisfied. I would not have decided to cut my hair because that would have violated my cultural values and personal value system. In the end, the solution was amicable to both the gentleman and the company. This ethical dilemma, although rectified in a reasonable fashion, brought to light other policy issues within the company. As a result, the company hired an ethical officer who oversees all policies, rules, and procedures. Also this individual helps orientate new hires who cultural ways and values are not easily recognized. This has helped the company become more cultural diverse and more cognizant of others who values differ from the majority of  the workforce References: * Managing Business Ethics * L. Trevino & K. An Idol of Rosa Parks - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 736 Downloads: 1 Date added: 2019/03/27 Category Politics Essay Level High school Tags: Rosa Parks Essay Did you like this example? The mishandling of people because of their skin color has been active everywhere for so long. This has torn apart the egos of many. Rosa Parks was one victim of this mistreatment. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "An Idol of Rosa Parks" essay for you Create order Rosa Parks was arrested in 1955, after refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. She was an African American who was mistreated and was fed up with the mistreatment of her people including herself. Parks was tired of seeing discrimination and disrespect of women, children, and men because of the color of their skin. Rosa did what was necessary to achieve a segregation free community because sometimes unjust laws need to be broken in order to be addressed and a majority of people are too fearful to put their voices in the public and wont stand up. Although it was against the norm and culture to refuse to give up her seat to a white American male, I stand on the side that Rosa Parks shaped the right decision to be the one person to fight for her rights and what she believed in. This law was unfair like many others, and she retaliated back and tried not to let herself get arrested. Many believe that people are not justified to break laws, but this is actually not true. Like Thoreau talks about in Civil Disobedience the opinion that some laws need to be broken in order to push for change. The law that Rosa Parks broke greatly favored white people, but she believed that everyone was created equal by God. No one is better than another person because of their race, wealth, or position in society. Just like what Galatians 3:28 says in the Bible, â€Å" There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.† This Bible verse shows that if you don’t want to be handled in a barbaric way, then don’t treat others that way. The act of her standing up for African Americans and to help put stop racism nominates her the best model in the Civil Rights Movement. A majority of people are too nervous and fearful to put their voices out to the public. However, Rosa Parks was the opposite and was brave enough to voice her opinion which allowed everyone to be aware of her thoughts toward the unfair law. I think that every person should stand up for their beliefs no matter what their skin color or hair color or any color for that matter, and have their own opinions about each situation. They have freedom of speech and they should be able to give their opinion without fear of what the consequences may be. Standing up for African Americans to receive equal rights just as much as the whites Americans made Rosa Parks the most achieved person during the Civil Rights Movement. Not willing to give up her seat to the whites in a bus, she tried to make people aware of civil rights. Rosa succeeded to make people aware of civil rights by putting racism as mistreatment cease. As the result, she inspired people to never give up trying to obtain equal rights as everyone else. Every person should be motivated to stand up for their beliefs and give people their opinion no matter the consequences, especially when it is an unjust law. Don’t just ignore it because it doesn’t affect you. By refusing to give her bus seat to a white man on a bus Rosa Parks helped spark the civil rights movement. The day Rosa Parks was convicted of violating the segregation laws; the local African-American community started a bus boycott that lasted more than a year. The bus boycott finally ended when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that bus segregation was unconstitutional. Rosa Parks is now a symbol of power in the struggle to end segregation. This boycott not only showed how much affect the black community had on the economy but it also showed what segregation was really doing to people and their society. Knowing that she would be arrested and doing it anyway gives way to breaking unjust laws. Parks did not want to give up her seat and having to do that after working all those hours was unjust in that time. She â€Å"sat down† to stand up for what she believed in.
